Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
Job description:
Director
Description: Responsible for the overall leadership and management of the center including ensuring safe, legal and financial decisions with alignment with the organization’s mission. Ensures high-quality early childhood education and care for all ages of children enrolled. Also, the main point of contact for staff, families, board of directors and regulators.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Remain physically on-site during operational business hours or appointed designee
- A Co. Director is required when the program operates more than 12 hours/day
- A bachelor’s degree or advanced degree from a state approved college or University in early childhood education, child development, child psychology or related feel that includes at least 18 credit hours in child development and/or early childhood education
- A bachelor’s degree from a state approved college or University in the subject area, 6 months experience working with children and the licensed, approved or registered childcare facility
- An associates degree from a state approved college or University in early childhood education, child development, child psychology or related field that includes at least 18 credit hours in child development and/or early childhood education was 6 months work experience in a licensed, approved or registered childcare facility
- A high school diploma or GED, and early childhood development 101 with 3 years’ experience in a licensed, approved or registered childcare facility. 1 year shall include supervision of childcare staff including caregivers/teachers
- bachelor's degree and early childhood education, child development, education administration, or related field.
- Preferably several years of experience in early childhood setting, including supervisory experience
- Strong knowledge of the New York State childcare licensing regulations
- Required certifications such as CPR/first aid and background check
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills Skills, Traits, Training
- The Director shall participate in at least 20 hours of training annually. At least 5:00 hours shall be related to program administration and at least 5 clock hours shall be in the growth and development and/or health and safety including first- aid and CPR training. The remaining hours shall come from the following areas curriculum, nutrition, special needs, child guidance, professional development, or other areas approved by the department, and must include blood-borne pathogen training as required by OSHA. Directors to receive training in excess of 20 hours/year may carry over 10 hours to the following year in the category earned.

Duties:
1. Leadership and administration
-Oversee daily operations of the daycare center, ensuring it runs smoothly and needs its submission and goals.
- Set and maintain policies and procedures for staff and families
- Ensure the daycare environment is safe nurturing, and developmentally appropriate for children
- Develop, monitor, and implement program goals, plans and budgets.
- Maintain records related to enrollment, attendance, health, safety, staff, and finances.
2. Compliance and licensing
- According to OCFS licensing regulations the director oversees all health, safety, staffing ratio, facility, and documentation requirements mandated by NYS
- Preparing for and responding to licensing inspections and audits
- Keeping staff credentials and training such as background checks, first-aid,
CPR, and all required learnings in compliance with regulatory standards.
3. Staff supervision and development
- Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate teachers, assistance, and all additional support staff.
- Provide professional development and coaching to maintain quality teaching and compliance
- Build a positive team culture and resolve staff issues professionally and promptly
4. Program and curriculum oversight
- Ensure the center has educational programs that are age-appropriate and engaging with alignment to the best practices in early childhood education
- Support teachers and assistance in planning and evaluating curriculum and classroom activities that are age-appropriate and aligned with best practices in early childhood education
5. Family and community engagement
- Maintain open communication with families about their children's development, schedule, and center operations with any changes concerns before ideas of modification.
- Conduct or offer orientations, chores and meetings with families as requested or as needed.
- Build partnerships with community organizations and additional stakeholders to support the center's mission.
6. Financial and enrollment management
- The director is responsible for monitoring the budget, the tuition revenue, payroll, and additional expenses
- Manage enrollment, wait lists in the capacity to ensure sustainability
- Work with the board of directors on financial planning and fundraising strategies.
